Hurricane Sally Impact Update

In response to growing concerns of those traveling to areas covered by EmeraldCoastByOwner.com, we are attempting to share the most recent information about Hurricane Sally closures and safety precautions.

Baldwin County, AL: 
(Gulf Shores, Orange Beach)

CURFEWS:
SPANISH FORT: The City Council of the City of Spanish Fort has imposed a curfew in the corporate limits of the City of Spanish Fort, Alabama. The curfew shall be from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., beginning on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, and shall continue thereafter until lifted. In the event that the curfew is no longer needed, in the discretion of the Mayor, after consultation with the Chief of Police, the Mayor is hereby granted the authority to lift the curfew.

BAY MINETTE: The city of Bay Minette has imposed a curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. until further notice.

BALDWIN COUNTY: Baldwin County Sheriff Hoss Mack has imposed a curfew for the unincorporated areas in Baldwin County tonight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday due to down power lines, impassible roads and flooding. Everyone should stay off the roadways to allow public safety and utility companies to conduct their operations.

FAIRHOPE: The City of Fairhope is putting a curfew in place effective starting tonight, Sept. 16, at 6 p.m.

GULF SHORES: The city’s curfew has been extended until further notice. Multiple streets are blocked with trees and debris. Officials say unless you are having an emergency to stay home and off the roads.

MOBILE: The City of Mobile has implemented a city-wide curfew effective tonight. 7 p.m. til 6 a.m.

POWER OUTAGES:
Baldwin EMC announced it has approximately 78,146 members experiencing power outages due to Hurricane Sally. Employees of Baldwin EMC are working diligently to restore power as safely and quickly as possible. However, due to the widespread damage, the company does expect extended outages.

OUTAGES BY AREA

North of Interstate 10: 6,623 members without power
Between Interstate 10 and U.S. Highway 98 going east/west: 19,081 members without power
South of U.S. Highway 98: 52,442 members without power


BOIL WATER ADVISORY:
There is a boil water advisory for the entire area. Bring water to a rapid boil for at least two minutes to make potable.


ROAD CLOSURES:
Officials say the WC Holmes Bridge, located on Highway 59 crossing the Intracoastal Waterway, will remain closed for entry into Gulf Shores until further notice. Residents and property owners living south of the Intracoastal Waterway will be able to cross with a valid Hurricane Re-Entry Pass. Contractors will also be granted access with a current Contractor Re-Entry Pass. These passes are available for pick up or purchase at City Hall during regular business hours, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Gulf Power says its crews of over 7,000 people are working east to west to restore power. Over 200,000 outages remain.
