Beach across the street & Bay/Dock @backdoor, Cape San Blas, Florida Vacation Rental by Owner

This place is like no other! Very spacious with plenty of room for the entire family. Look no further if you like to fish,hike,watch amazing sunset’s or just relax we have not found a better place. It’s a best kept secret and I hope it remains that way. Because it’s not crowded the fishing is spectacular. The private dock is so long that just by throwing a line out I caught redfish, snapper,sheepshead and some very nice sea trout. Freshness never tasted so good. There are some of my favorite restaurants within a one mile radius. Certain times of the year the bay is teeming with oysters and scallops. If you like pompano the ocean is merely a walk away. I’m surprised this beautiful property is not always booked solid. We come here at least once a year. No disappointments. You’ll love this place.

The dome is so spacious and offers a lot of privacy with an in suite bathroom in each bedroom. Each bedroom has a view of the water. Its hard to choose a best room because each one is so unique. We work while staying here the wifi has been upgraded and is super dependable! Even for zoom meetings! My husband and I spend hours on the upper deck with our binoculars watching for eagles, osprey, kingfishers, herons, and flocks of whatever happens to be migrating through. Which is always something excellent birding here!!! The public beach (just a short walk across the street) offers beautiful a beautiful gulf location and miles of spotless white sand for walking. And watching the sunset!! The cape is such an ideal location for families and getting away from it all. The pace here is slow and it feels very safe. There is a biking/walking path that runs the length of the peninsula. Mick is the ideal host. Extremely knowledgeable about all things cape, quick to respond to any issues, and genuinely friendly and helpful. He also knows how to disappear into the background of your vacation! We will be back soon!!!

Bay Rock is by far one of the most unique vacation houses you can rent on the forgotten coast. A lot of people don’t consider road noise when renting on the Cape but in the summer time that road has considerable traffic so it’s nice to be so far away from the road. The paved bike trail makes it safe for walking, jogging, or riding bikes. The house is practically on the water with great views and a great dock that has some of the deepest water than anywhere on the bay. Deep water comes in handy when you’ve been out on a boat all day and coming back in at low tide, don’t ask me how I know that. Our favorite part of vacationing there is taking the boat to a sandbar, setting out lawn chairs in the water and spending the day listening to the radio and throwing frisbee. The kids can snorkel and swim safely. We find sand dollars, star fish, cool shells, we even had a little 4 inch sea horse swim up to us out there, really cool. The state park at the end of the cape has a great beach with beautiful water. If you’re looking for a great vacation away from the hustle and bustle of crowds then Bay Rock is your place. We love it.

Have stayed at Bayrock several times. The location offers the best the Cape has to offer. Bayrock is located on the bay side with a pier and boat dock right out your back door. A short walk out the front door takes you to the wide white sand beaches. In the morning you get the glory of the sunrise over the bay and in the evening you can watch a beautiful sunset from the house. There is a fantastic walking/bike path adjacent to the main road. A state park just a few miles down the road is a definite must. There are many dining options on the Cape, in Port St. Joe or Apalachicola. But if you prefer the house has all the dinning and cooking supplies you need including a grill and giant pot for a shrimp boil (our favorite). Enjoy your stay!
