Barbara Stamm & Family
Thank you for such a wonderful place for our family to enjoy!! Beautiful home with a beautiful lake front view and pathed walkways to the beach!! People riding bikes, using kayaks, walking their dogs. Wonderful, quiet, and friendly community. We appreciated having the gas grill and utensils readily available along with a beach cart that’s made for the beach, beach chairs and umbrella made for a great beach stay. We look forward to staying here again!!

We spent a week-long vacation in Cape Escape II at Barrier Dunes and had an amazing time. The condo is spacious, comfortable and clean. It is also well stocked with most cooking and cleaning supplies provided. There's even an extensive spice selection! I'd never encountered that before in a vacation rental. The condo location is great too, especially the back decks overlooking the lake. The back decks face east so you get wonderful sunrise views from both. The front main bedroom deck has a good view to the gulf as well. The unit is a short walk to the beach which was relatively uncrowded with everyone able to social distance with no problems. A short hike in either direction on the beach provides almost no one else around. We quickly found watching the sunset on the beach a "must do" each day. They were just spectacular! Also, Wendy was a pleasure to deal with and responded to each request almost immediately. The instructions received for the day of arrival were very thorough and easy to follow. Overall, we had an excellent time in Cape San Blas and Cape Escape II and can't wait to return. I would definitely rent this unit again!

This was by far one of the best vacations I've had. From the condo to the beach no complaints from me. If you are bringing your fur babies this is the place to stay! I was worried the condo would have a bad pet smell but it DID NOT. First time for me at Cape San Blas and I will def. be back again. The Barrier Dunes community was beautiful and very dog friendly. The beds were comfy, everything was fully stocked and we took advantage of the beach closet. The beach was only a short distance away and very easy to get to. Wendy was great and easy to work with and we even got to meet her while we were there. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed my stay with family and most of all my 8 year yellow lab who absolutely loved the ocean!!

Very close to clear, clean and wonderful beach! Unit is very clean, we did not have pets but could not tell pets had been there previously! The unit has all of the comforts of home - fully stocked kitchen, board games, books, and all of the HDTV channels! Wendy (owner) was very easy to work. I would definitely stay here again!

Thank you again for a great week. We loved every minute of being there and the weather was perfect. Already talking about when we can go again.

Cape Escape was very clean and well kept. We had a issue with a toilet but I texted maintenance and it was fixed the next morning. I appreciated having the large pot for doing crab or shrimp boils. I also appreciated having a crock pot to cook a slab of ribs. We loved the location inside the barrier dunes. The whole family loved the decks and watching the turtles in the back. We would wave our arms and 60 turtles would show up.
It is a short walk to the beach. The rental came with a cart but we didn't need it. It is right next to St. Joseph Park. Here you can rent kayaks and go out to the bay. Don't take the dogs to the park.
In Barrier Dunes we enjoyed taking our dogs and seeing other people with their dogs. The neighborhood even leaves a supply of doggie bags for everyone to clean up after them making it more enjoyable to everyone. The beaches are white and clean!!
We loved making a fire on the beach the last night of our stay, playing music and dancing! If you are into horseback riding, call Sand & Spur!! Get your bags packed and enjoy this area along with Port St. Joe and Apalachicola!! Plenty of shrimp and oysters to go around.

My wife and I had a wonderful week at the Cape Escape 2 last week. The condo was very clean, very comfortable, very quiet and had a great location. The walk to the beach was short; but drive to the state park was very short. The condo was very well-stocked. The furnishings were extremely comfortable.
The Cape has obviously fully recovered from the hurricane. The surf fishing was great; the whiting were huge with several in the 12-15 inch range. We rented a boat from Presnells and enjoyed a day of bay fishing, catching flounder and trout.
Steve & Wendy
Very nice well kept unit overlooking pond, we enjoyed feeding the turtles everyday and even had a deer show up one morning. It is a short walk to the beach where we enjoyed watching the sunsets and sitting around a bonfire in the evening. We even got to see dolphins one night. We visited St. Joe state park and enjoyed the beach and found a lot of nice sea shells. Barrier Dunes is a really nice complex. Wendy was great to work with, answered all our questions and has everything you would need already provided in condo.
We definitely recommend Wendy's Cape Escape.

We just loved it! The complex is so family and dog-friendly. The condo was perfect. The area is very charming and we were able to relax and recharge. I look forward to going back again.

Just got home from Cape San Blas... missing the beautiful beach and the wonderful townhouse. We stayed in Cape Escape II. It was so beautifully decorated and everything we wanted in a vacation home!! Wendy made it all so easy! I can’t wait to get back thereâ¤ï¸ And don’t forget.. it’s all dog friendly ðŸ•

Hi Wendy,
Just a quick note to again say Thank You for helping Me, Beverly, and Scuby have the best vacation we could ever imagine.
Your home was wonderful and the location was perfect. We played hard and relaxed just as hard. You have made lifelong customers of us. I’ll email you when we pick our dates for next year. When I get home [😪] and get my pictures from my camera to my computer I’ll post to the Facebook Page. Again, Thank You! [😊] [😊] [ðŸ¾] [ðŸ¾]

We enjoyed our stay very much. The beach is a very short walk across the complex, and our kids loved having a pond right off the back deck where they could catch turtles and small fish. I personally loved having a carport with a hose where we could leave all our sandy stuff every day, rinse off and in general keep the mess out of the main living space. Very pleasant accommodations and a nice supply of beach chairs, toys and beach cart for guest use.

Cleanliness, amenities & location were our top priorities!! This place has it all!! Condo is a short walk to pool and ocean. Condo itself was immaculate and well stocked. (Always bring extra toilet paper, soap & paper towels to condos). Very comfortable for all. Customer service was over the top excellent! Even a little thing like our wine opener broke and a new one was on our doorknob early the next day!! Thank you Wendy! And THANK YOU to the owners who take pride in offering all the extras!! It’s why we chose this particular condo!! We’ll be back!!
Whitney & Josh Lewis
Thank you for everything this week! As always, everything was perfect!
We look forward to working with you again- maybe even again this year! We’ve been discussing it, so fingers crossed haha!

We had the best time! Wendy you were so great communicating with us and gave us all the information we needed. The house had everything we needed. You and everyone we met while staying there were the absolute nicest people! Our family and our dog just loved it! It is such a relaxing environment between the kids riding bikes, catching fish and turtle watching at the lake, the beach and going horseback riding on the beach. We will definitely be coming back!
Kelli Defries
Thank you so much for letting us stay at Cape Escape II - #91, it was just what the doctor ordered. Very nice unit with easy access to the beach, just needed a couple of more days.
Amy Fasula
Thanks, Wendy! We loved our time at the beach and the home! Will definitely be back!

The thing we like most is the serenity of the area. The beach is never crowded, and everybody is very friendly. Being able to walk our dog on the beach is one of the main reasons for returning. We also found Port St Joe and Apalachicola fun to explore. I highly recommend the eco-tour of the Apalachicola River, lunch at the Owl Cafe, and a beer at the Oyster City Brewing Co. Everybody should also experience the Indian Pass Raw Bar.
The next best thing for us is the availability of very fresh seafood. We made numerous stops at the new St. Joe Shrimp Co. for shrimp, grouper and snapper, which we cooked on the grill and in the well-stocked kitchen.

Our experience at Cape San Blas:
We now live in Savannah, GA, and we’ve lived on the east coast of Florida previously. Therefore decided to spent the Christmas holidays at The Cape Escape condos on a tiny north-south spit of land named Cape San Blas, west of Apalachicola, Florida came as a surprise to us & to our family & friends. We wanted a quieter holiday this year. We also wanted to be able to take our two miniature long-haired dachshunds. The location had to be on the water and it had to be within a day’s drive of our home.
Cape San Blas and Port St. Joe are small, quiet, unassuming areas. The Cape is surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico and the St Joseph Bay. The area is called The Forgotten Coast. It hasn’t yet been discovered, but we’re sure it will be soon. The beaches are wonderful. Since it was Christmastime, we weren’t swimming or doing any of the water activities, but we are returning to do so in March of this year.
Our condo was adorable, & it was even better than described. We had two bedrooms & two and a 1/2 baths. There was ample covered parking under our unit for two cars with space still available for the provided gas grill. The 1st floor’s kitchen was more than adequately supplied, right down to cocktail sauce cups & oyster knives. There was seating at the kitchen bar for 2 & chairs at the table for 6. The living/family room had 2 large sofas & a TV in the corner with a sliding glass door that looked out to our small lagoon. Steps from that door lead down to the 1st floor, and at the top of the porch was a safety gate to keep in dogs and kids. The bedrooms and their en-suite bathrooms were at the front and rear of the unit on the 2nd floor with a well-stocked linen closet & a washer and dryer between them.
We are pet lovers and as such, this was THE perfect place for us to be. We had to smile every day with the number & variety of dogs coming and going. ‘Dog Waste’ stations were everywhere with plenty of baggies provided both in the community & on the beach. On our 1st morning, as we were traipsing outdoors for the dogs’ first potty stop of the day, in the dark, with our flashlights, at 6 a.m., we were delighted to see that our dogs are not the only one with such Benjamin Franklin hours. We ran into at least a half-dozen other humans taking their pets out for their absolutions. "Good mornings," were said by all, & a few barks were sounded.
There are 2 pools in the complex & a couple of tennis courts. Fishing on the beach was a winner even when it was cold. In other weather, biking, kayaking, sailing, canoeing & other outdoor activities are available. There is even a scallop season, & we learned how to remove the little fellows from their shells even if we couldn’t actually perform the task.
The restaurants were very casual. At our time of the year, a few were closed, but they will be open in the Spring, we’re sure. As almost all of the restaurants say, “The fish, shrimp & oysters were sleeping in the gulf or bay the previous night!” They were not kidding. We purchased fresh tuna dip from the St. Joe Shrimp Company. There are 2 now, one of the Cape & one nearer St. Joe. We also bought their fresh red snapper & flounder to cook at the condo…fresh, fresh, fresh. Can’t be compared with store-bought fish at all. We were disappointed that we couldn’t get fresh raw oysters nearby, but we did learn that the little drive to Apalachicola would reward us with the little flavorful crustaceans.
There is so much to say about how much fun we had, how relaxed we were, how this place fulfilled our desires for a quiet Christmas. We would be more than happy to answer anyone’s questions about the area, the condos, the food, etc. Working with Wendy Jackson was very, very easy. She responded to every question, had suggestions for eating, playing, meeting, greeting, and just plain enjoying our “Cape Escape”.
Happy New Year, Wendy. Please give our regards to those folks who are able to spend more time there! Lucky folks.

We had an amazing time at the Cape! The weather and beach were truly beautiful!
Thank you so much for ensuring the condo was clean and well stocked! We found it very easy to just arrive and start having fun!
We ate twice at Coneheads and found the hamburgers were delicious! Our 3 year old loved getting ice cream there and we would ride our bikes back and forth from the condo. My husband and I are trying to find time to come back later in summer. Thanks for all your help making our vacation amazing!
Walter B.
Cape Escape II was wonderful! We loved being right on the lake. Being morning people, we would get up and watch the sunrise off the back deck. Lots of turtles in the lake and we enjoyed feeding them. They would anticipate us when we came out on the back deck and all start swimming over. The home was beautifully decorated and we liked that it was an end unit. It had everything you could imagine…we didn’t even get everything out of our car once we had a look around! It was VERY clean, which we really appreciated!
We are so glad we found Cape San Blas for the 1st time. The beaches are beautiful. We have been going to Destin and loved the fact there were no crowds. Restaurants were close and we enjoyed the convenience stores on the Cape when we needed something.
Thank you for answering all of our questions before our trip since we haven’t been to Cape San Blas before. Once we arrived, the guest information book was VERY thorough and we enjoyed doing some of the things that were covered in the book. Was nice to have all that information there and not have to research the area or do internet research. We will definitely be back again!

We had such a great time at the Cape over Christmas! This is our 4th Christmas coming down to the cape and the condo was one of the nicest we have stayed in! The amenities were great and the furniture and beds were very comfortable!! When we first walked into the condo it had such a nice and cozy feel to it. It was clean and well taken care of. The pond view was great and it was fun feeding the turtles off the deck. It was also great that there was a boardwalk right across the street that took us directly to the beach! The beach chairs and the beach cart were one of the best amenities that the condo had!! It made taking everything we wanted to take down to the beach very easy! It was also nice that the weather was beautiful while we were there. We had almost two weeks of sunny and 70 degrees! We had such a relaxing and fun time at the cape. The next time we come down to the Cape, we will definitely be renting from you again! Thank you for providing such a great place for us to enjoy our vacation at!

We truly enjoyed the time we spent on the Cape! Thank you so much for taking such good care of us with limited notice of arrival. We were so comfortable that we even extended our stay with you and we will be back in to see you soon.

Thank you so much for all of your help in scheduling this trip! We had an absolutely wonderful time. The condo was so nice and clean, it had everything we could have asked for and it truly felt like home. We were all really impressed with how lovely the condo and beach were. The beach was fantastic, not too crowded and very pristine. We enjoyed taking walks on the beach with the pups and shelling, along with just spending hours being lazy and watching the waves roll in while we relaxed on the beach. To top of an incredible vacation, my sister and her boyfriend got engaged while we were there! I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed ourselves and how nice the condo and area were. We are already talking about booking with you again next year, hopefully for an even longer stay!! I personally forgot to take pictures (I never remember to take pictures!) but I will check with everyone else and email you any pictures we have of the dogs enjoying the beach. Thank you again for all of your help and hospitality! I look forward to returning to the Cape soon!!
