Okaloosa Island Oasis, Fort Walton Beach, Florida Vacation Rental by Owner

We stayed the last week in June and we had a perfect time and a beautiful stay. The accommodations were perfect, very warm and inviting decor. The place was immaculately clean and we felt right at home immediately. We loved being the last place on the strip and hiking the empty beach, Eglin AFB. You need a permit to hike and please respect the beach or this privilege will be removed. The permit is easy to get and free, just watch 2 safety videos. The grounds of the facility are well kept and loved. The attendants do a fantastic job and we loved that a retired police officer mans the gate. We snorkeled at flippers in Destin, and we tried the award winning Fubar pizza. Both highly recommended. Shane is amazing to work with and made us feel welcome and appreciated with little extras. We have stayed in many condos in Okaloosa, and this was by far the best, and most relaxing.

We booked a last minute reservation for Memorial Day weekend and Shane was very responsive and helpful. We have stayed in El Matador before in a different unit, but this unit was far above and beyond a better place. Everything is clean and updated in this unit. The screen doors actually work! It is also very nice to have the keyless entry. The location is secluded and private enough but still only minutes away from everything. There is a Publix right across the bridge where you can get everything you need. This year the Air Force has started enforcing their boundary. We saw a researcher for the Sea Turtles on a 4-wheeler one day turning people around who were walking down the beach past the boundary. The next day we witnessed a fully uniformed Federal Officer, complete with bulletproof vest, walk out on the beach and make people get up and relocate their camps to the civilian side. So just a heads up, if you go past the AF fence, there is a chance you could be asked to move. Nobody got arrested or anything, just a talking to and made to move. We had an awesome time and we did take a few walks in the afternoon and evening on the AF side without getting in trouble. Nobody seemed to come out and enforce the boundary after lunchtime. The views of the sunset from the West/Entrance side are breathtaking with no buildings to block your view! This condo is a gem! Note: When you head to the beach from the condo, just keep going to the end of the parking lot, don't walk all the way around the building by the pool. It is much shorter to walk through the parking lot.

We enjoyed staying in this lovely condo. It was probably one of the best furnished condos we have ever stayed in. Everything you could ask for in a kitchen! Beautiful views of sunset! Shane was easy to communicate with, responding promptly And offering suggestions on places for lunch when I asked. The second bedroom and bath are probably better suited for children. The bathroom is small but we made it work. there is a small grocery about two minutes from the condo. Thanks much Shane!

This condo has an amazing view! It is located in one of El Matador's 2 beachfront buildings and is only about a 2 minute walk to the beach. The kitchen is open and has everything you could ever need for cooking. It also has tall, oscillating fans for each room which was awesome for us as we usually have to lug along our bring box fans when we vacation. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of space in the condo for my husband and me as well as our 20, 18 and 16 year old sons. We loved the location of El Matador; to the east the beach is busier but to the west it is open and quiet. Our sons used the fitness center every day and we also enjoyed the smaller pool by the club house/fitness center as it was usually practically empty. Shane was wonderful to work with . He was very responsive, helpful and kind. We definitely hope to return!

We stayed here June 2021. The condo is exactly as shown in the pictures. Very clean and fully stocked! The beach was AMAZING! Having the long stretch of unoccupied beach right next to this location is the HIGHLIGHT of the appeal. It felt like a private island! The owner's were great to work with an VERY accommodating. While I like to go and experience new things this condo will DEFINITELY be on my return to list!

My family and I had a wonderful experience! We loved how open the condo was in the kitchen, but still had plenty of storage. Gorgeous decor and amazing views!

My Husband and I took our daughter and friend here for Fall Break. We absolutely loved everything about this location and the condo was picture perfect. Absolutely everything you could possibly need is here and more! We very much enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and the somewhat secluded destination. It was a welcomed get away for 2020! Thanks for making this trip so enjoyable.

We had an amazing week! The condo was excellent! Never been in one where the kitchen was so well stocked! Fan in every room! Loved the location. Very peaceful with it being at the end of the island, but also convenient to dining and things to do. Very short walk to the beach! Oh...amazing sunset views from the beach and outside the unit door. My husband didn’t make it down till mid-week, but my girls and I felt very safe which was important to me.

My family and I had a great time here. It’s at the end of the strip so you can have a little privacy on the beach if you wanna walk and get away from the crowds. Condo was done up nicely as advertised, and Shane was a pleasure to talk to and rent from.

This was a great experience for my entire family. Very convenient to both the pool and beach. Condo was decorated beautifully!! Great, fast communication with the owner. We will Definitely book again.

We enjoyed our stay here very much and appreciated how incredibly clean this unit was. It was stocked with all the essentials for cooking, extra blankets, etc. The owners were incredibly easy to book with and made that process seamless. The location of this property was wonderful. Very quiet and not overly crowded. Very close to some great places to eat. Truly a hidden gem!

We LOVED our stay! It was so tranquil and relaxing. The condo was decorated beautifully with anything you would ever need. The view was amazing and the location was just perfect. I have been to the beach too many times to count, but have never stayed on a beach that was so quiet and natural. We loved the seeing the sand dunes as well as a dolphin and sea turtle. We did not want to leave. We're looking forward to booking our next vacation here again.

This is the cutest condo! I stayed here during the off-season and this is the perfect place to stay. Very quiet and it has an AMAZING view of the ocean from the balcony. It's also in a super convenient location. The beach is only a 2 minute walk from the front door and both Fort Walton and Destin are just down the road. There are a bunch of awesome places to eat too! I will definitely be coming back!
